I'm sure this has been confirmed before but I'll ask it again.....
Is it OK to add any vessel to the Database which has an IMO - its just that I took some photographs of the Smit Dee a Training vessel the other day and whilst it has an IMO 9266592 it isn't on the Database?

Just to amplify the above posting - I suppose what i am asking is do you want every vessel with an IMO Number represented on the site, i.e. including small vessels such as Tugs etc?

Sorry for wasting your time - This from the FAQ:
What are the limitations on adding vessels?
Seagoing vessels with an IMO Number can be added at any time. Vessels without an IMO number must have a GRT in excess of 500 tons to be entered onto the database. Fishing vessels without an IMO are not accepted. Note that the administrators may add smaller vessels at their discretion.

I notice that when submitting a new ship it goes for approval first - that must be a new change? - makes it a little awkward when you want to add a ship and add photographs all in one movement.

We decided that to maintain the integrity of the data all new ships to the database should be checked by our research team to verify the data and if possible add any additional data that wasn't already provided by the submitter - hence the change.
We are working on a way to attach a photograph to the submitted form as you suggest.
Generally the forms will be acted upon within 24 hours.
Smit Dee has been added.

Thanks for that - I see that you are hard at work making some of the changes that i have suggested - sorry for the duplication on one of them as you must have actioned it just after my posting - I thought my posting hadn't stuck and therefore repeated it!

What are your feelings about a semi submersible Oil Rig that has an IMO - Northern Producer. Do you want this type of vessel on your site? - Also what about barges with IMO?

Didn't read your post until now - the silence was me working too hard! Anything with an IMO is acceptable - we'll add as semi-submersible oil rig and barge to the list of acceptable vessels.
I'm also in the process of adding some vessels that are presently under construction - working though China Shipbuilding Corp. and Daewoo at the moment.
